Q: What is an eBook?

A: An eBook is an electronic version of a book. You can download eBooks to your personal computer or a handheld reading device. There are many such handheld devices available to the public, with new options appearing on the market all the time.

Q: Why would I want to buy an electronic version of a book?

A: Our eBooks are typically less expensive because there are no shipping and handling fees that are usually associated with the purchase of printed books online. And, as an added bonus, ebooks are ecologically sound because they do not rely on paper and ink. Probably most important is that you can purchase an eBook at your convenience without leaving your home or place of work or waiting for a store to open. And there is no need to worry about stock running out. You can now literally hold your entire library of books on your computer or on your personal reading device..

Q: Why aren’t prices always a lot cheaper when you buy an ebook?

A: You probably noted that on our site there is not much, if any, savings by buying an ebook instead of buying a printed book. Why is that? Well, the truth is that the actual printing of a book is really a minimal cost in the total price of a book! This is especially true when we are talking about books that, for the most part, are selling under $10. In reality, the printing is usually less than 10% of the final retail price of the book! On clearance titles, it may actually be less expensive to buy a book than to purchase an ebook because clearance usually means that there are extreme overstocks of the printed book in the inventory and the prices have been slashed to simply recover some of the books’ cost. Where you will always see a savings is in the fact that if you buy an ebook, you will not have to pay for shipping and handling of that book – and that is a cost that has been growing much quicker than the price of the books themselves! While the prices of our books have gone up by less than 10% in the last 10 years, the price of shipping/handling has increased by more than 50% on smaller numbers of books. For example if you buy a $3 book on our physical book site, you would need to pay $4 to ship/handle that book to receive it in the mail, for a total of cost of $7…and that same title as an ebook will cost $3, and there are no additional charges.

Q: How is pricing determined?

A: Pricing is set by the publisher of the work.

Q: How do I purchase an eBook?

A: Choose your preferred title(s) and add it to your shopping cart. When you finish shopping you can check-out and pay for your purchases. After your payment is confirmed an email will be sent to your listed email address with a link to download your purchase(s). This normally takes no more than a couple minutes.

Q: Is my personal information secure?

A: We will never sell your information to another party. All information you provide is encrypted during transmission. Physical access to the data center is protected.

Q: How do I know which format to purchase?

A: You should always check with your device manufacturer to make sure what format will work best on the device you are intending to use. There are currently more than a dozen different formats which can be used on ebook readers, computers, or mobile devices. We try and carry the most common formats for your convenience. Some books come in multiple formats, others come in only one format (for example PDFs are the only format ideal for coloring books because you can download them to your computer and print out pages for your children to color).
